Malaca±ang: On Thursday, Malaca±ang announced that all Cabinet officials will continue to undergo performance evaluations, even after President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. retained several key figures during the ongoing recalibration of his administration.
According to Philippines News Agency, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro emphasized during a briefing that the acceptance or rejection of courtesy resignations by the President does not conclude the evaluation process. Castro stated, "We want to make it clear that it does not end with the submission of courtesy resignations or the President's decision to accept or reject them - some were removed, others remained."
Castro further explained that while those who remained still hold the President's trust, it does not mean they should be complacent. A 'continuing performance evaluation' will be conducted, ensuring that officials remain vigilant and aware that their service is contingent on the President's satisfaction.
Recently, President Marcos initiated a series of assessments of his Cabinet as part of a broader administrative recalibration. While some officials maintained their positions, others were replaced based on their performance and alignment with the administration's priorities.
Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, one of the officials retained, announced last week the third phase of the administration's 'bold reset,' where most of the Cabinet was retained. He also indicated that the evaluation process is ongoing and includes officials below the Cabinet rank.
Bersamin hinted at the possibility of more courtesy resignations being accepted soon, stating, "If you are asking for blood, there will still be blood." He assured that the evaluations are comprehensive and thorough, conducted by the President and his selected panel.
