Manila: The Philippines has stepped forward to offer humanitarian aid to Gaza, providing crucial support to those affected by the ongoing crisis in the region. Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Administrator Undersecretary Ariel Nepomuceno led the turnover of essential supplies to the Jordanian Consulate on Friday.
According to Philippines News Agency, the Philippines' donation included 8,323 bonnets, 3,187 pairs of gloves, and 20 blankets. This donation will support the Humanitarian Air Bridge Campaign of the Hashemite Kingdom Jordan.
"We stand in solidarity with all those impacted by this tragedy and recognize the urgency of the situation," Nepomuceno said in a statement on Sunday. He also emphasized the importance of international cooperation and expressed an optimistic outlook for future efforts.
"We are hopeful that today's ceremony will not only celebrate the successful partnership we have forged but also inspire other Philippine agencies to join future rounds of this important campaign. Together, we can continue to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those in need, both here and abroad," he said.
The conflict in Gaza, which has been ongoing since October 2023, has resulted in a severe humanitarian crisis. In January, after 15 months of war, Israel and Hamas reached an agreement to halt the hostilities and release hostages and prisoners from both sides, allowing the delivery of critical aid.
