Zamboanga city: An off-duty member of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has saved an eight-year-old child from drowning at a resort in Zamboanga City on Sunday evening.
According to Philippines News Agency, the PCG reported that Petty Officer 3 (PO3) Al-Shier Alimuddin of Coast Guard Sub-Station Siasi was attending a family gathering at a resort in Barangay Cabatangan when he was alerted around 8:36 p.m. about a child drowning in the swimming pool. Alimuddin immediately responded to the emergency, finding the child unresponsive upon his arrival at the scene.
Alimuddin, who has received Basic Life Support training, began administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to the child. His quick response and proper life-saving techniques successfully restored the child's vital signs and pulse. The child was subsequently rushed to the hospital for further medical treatment and is reportedly in stable condition.
The PCG commended Alimuddin for his timely and selfless actions, which reflect the PCG's ongoing dedication to preserving life and ensuring public safety, even when off duty. As of now, Alimuddin has not been available for comment regarding his heroic actions.
