Manila: The remains of overseas Filipino worker (OFW) Leah Mosquera, who succumbed to injuries sustained during an Iranian missile attack in Rehovot, Israel, arrived home on Wednesday: In a Facebook post, Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac announced the return of Mosquera's body.
According to Philippines News Agency, Mosquera was one of the casualties when a missile struck a residential building in Rehovot, south of Tel Aviv, on June 15, following back-and-forth attacks between Israel and Iran. She was given emergency treatment but remained in critical condition at the intensive care unit of Shamir Medical Center until she passed away on July 13.
Aside from Mosquera, two other OFWs were hurt during the attack but were immediately released after treatment. Cacdac earlier said that Mosquera's "dedication and quiet heroism embody the strength and sacrifices of our overseas Filipino workers who carry the hopes and dreams of their families, their communities, and our nation."
He stated that in compliance with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., the DMW and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration will provide all forms of assistance to the family of Mosquera.
