OPAPRU Joins Nation in Celebrating 127th Independence Day

Manila: The men and women of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU) joined all Filipino citizens in commemorating the 127th anniversary of the country's independence.

According to Philippines News Agency, OPAPRU Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. expressed gratitude to the nation's forebears who fought for freedom and sparked nationalism that endures today. He emphasized the importance of drawing inspiration from the heroes who have laid the groundwork for the Philippine peace process.

Galvez urged Filipinos to become instruments of meaningful change, emphasizing that protecting the nation's sovereignty is a shared responsibility. He extended Independence Day greetings and encouraged citizens to honor the sacrifices of the past.

In a separate statement, Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo highlighted the Philippines' contribution to the global community and the DFA's commitment to an independent foreign policy. Manalo drew parallels between the courage of historical figures and the determination of modern diplomats in protecting the country's interests.
