Baguio: Over 1,000 government jobs, including positions in the police and military, were presented during a Civil Service Commission (CSC) job fair in Baguio on Tuesday. The event, held at SM City Baguio, was a significant part of the celebration for the 125th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary.
According to Philippines News Agency, various agencies participated in the job fair, including the city government of Baguio, Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center, Philippine Economic Zone Authority, Department of Public Works and Highways, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines, and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Lawyer Kathy Olano, Public Assistance and Liaison Division chief of the CSC in the Cordillera Administrative Region, emphasized the importance of not only efficiency but also honesty and dedication for government workers. "It is expected that public workers do not just perform their work with efficiency but also with honesty and dedication," Olano stated in an interview.
In addition to job opportunities, the event also offered various government services. Agencies such as Pag-IBIG Fund, Philippine Health Insurance Corp., and Philippine Statistics Authority were present to provide assistance.
Princess Marielle Idanan, a licensed teacher, expressed her enthusiasm for pursuing a government career despite recent controversies involving government workers and projects. She emphasized the need for the youth to contribute to good governance. Currently employed at a Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) company, Idanan shared her excitement about potentially joining the public sector, following in the footsteps of her family members who are also in government service. "I know it is not easy, because we are actually serving the people, but I am thrilled. It is not easy. I commend those people working in government," she said.
