Over 21,532 Police Officers Deployed to Elevate Safety in Metro Manila

Taguig City: In a significant move to enhance public safety and security, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) launched an intensified police visibility initiative in Metro Manila. This initiative is part of a strategic campaign to combat criminality within the region.

According to Philippines News Agency, the launch took place at the NCRPO Grandstand in Camp Bagong Diwa, Bicutan, Taguig City, with DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla and NCRPO Director Maj. Gen. Anthony Aberin leading the event. The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has deployed 21,532 officers across various duties to ensure a constant and credible police presence, aligning with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directives.

The deployment includes 12,539 officers on beat patrols, 2,989 on administrative patrols, 2,944 on mobile patrols, 1,794 at fixed visibility posts and outposts, 629 at checkpoints, 344 at border control points, and 293 at Metro Manila Rail Transit and Light Rail Transit stations. Additionally, 240 force multipliers, comprising trained community volunteers and partner stakeholders, will support these operations by acting as the eyes and ears on the ground.

Maj. Gen. Aberin emphasized the NCRPO's commitment to providing a visible and proactive police force aimed at not only deterring crime but also instilling a sense of safety among residents. Secretary Remulla echoed this sentiment, highlighting the importance of building familiarity and trust between law enforcers and the communities they serve. He stressed the necessity of collaboration between police and local government units, warning against the misuse of police forces for personal agendas.

To solidify this collaborative approach, Remulla plans to meet newly elected officials to devise a comprehensive action plan. This initiative follows directives from PNP Chief Gen. Rommel Marbil, who urged officers to concentrate on patrol duties, as their responsibilities related to the 2025 elections have concluded.
