Ilocos Norte: The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is preparing to offer approximately 22,036 job vacancies for residents of the Ilocos Region during the Labor Day event scheduled for May 1. This initiative aims to provide a significant number of employment opportunities both locally and overseas.
According to Philippines News Agency, the DOLE Ilocos Region director, Exequiel Ronie Guzman, announced at the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas forum that out of the total job offerings, 16,268 positions are for local employment while 5,768 are for overseas opportunities. The jobs fair will take place across six venues in the region, which include Robinsons Place in San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte, Sta. Cruz Cultural Tourism and Trade Center in Sta. Cruz, Ilocos Sur, Senator Alejo R. Mabanag Hall in San Fernando City, La Union, Provincial Training and Development Center II Capitol Complex in Lingayen, Pangasinan, Robinsons Place in Calasiao, Pangasinan, and CB Mall Urdaneta City, Pangasinan.
DOLE Ilocos Region assistance director, Honorina Dian-Baga, highlighted that the top 10 job offerings during the event will include positions such as production division operators, jail officers, call center agents, customer service representatives, service crew, credit assurance inspectors, production operators, quality assurance production operators, cashiers, and production helpers. Additionally, a one-stop-shop service will be available, provided by various government agencies to assist job seekers.
Meanwhile, Guzman urged local government units to collaborate with the Department of Social Welfare and Development to encourage beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) to participate in the event. "We want to give importance to the 4Ps beneficiaries, especially those who have already graduated from the program," he emphasized.
Guzman further mentioned that DOLE aims to exceed the attendance of over 3,000 4Ps beneficiaries who participated in a similar jobs fair held on April 25 in Dagupan City. Participants of the jobs fair will be treated to free snacks at some venues, and those who are hired-on-the-spot, along with the employers with the most hires, will receive gifts.
