Iloilo City: Twenty-nine selected personnel of the Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO6) will serve as members of the Special Electoral Board at the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) for the May 12 elections.
According to Philippines News Agency, their deployment was formalized on Tuesday with a send-off ceremony at the PRO6 regional headquarters. The event was led by regional director Brig. Gen. Jack Wanky and Commission on Elections Western Visayas legal officer Jekar Francis Sullano.
Of the 29 personnel, 11 are from the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (PPO), six from Capiz PPO, four each from Aklan and Antique PPOs, and two each from the Guimaras PPO and Iloilo City Police Office.
Brig. Gen. Wanky highlighted that this is the first time in election history that PRO6 has sent personnel to augment other regions for election duties. He noted that this decision was driven by necessity and the demand for their services in BARMM, emphasizing their readiness to provide support.
The deployed officers are reminded to uphold the PRO6 brand of service, as they represent the regional headquarters during their mission in Mindanao. They will be reporting to the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region.
