Iloilo: Jobseekers are invited to take advantage of a one-day job fair on Friday where 4,000 vacancies are available. The event is part of the national observance of the 92nd anniversary of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
According to Philippines News Agency, DOLE Western Visayas Assistant Regional Director Melisa Navarra announced in a press conference that the job fair will take place at the VIP Lounge of the Festive Mall in the Mandurriao district. The fair will host 54 local employers offering 2,729 vacancies and four overseas employers with 1,288 vacancies available for qualified applicants. Navarra mentioned that while pre-registration has been facilitated, most job seekers typically register on-site, with 293 pre-registered as of Tuesday.
The job fair will feature a one-stop shop booth with 10 partner agencies, offering free assistance to first-time jobseekers, such as those needing licenses. DOLE personnel will be available to guide jobseekers, especially those hired on the spot, in securing necessary documentation.
During the event, DOLE will also disburse PHP12.5 million intended for 400 informal sector workers from Iloilo. Regionwide, PHP16.6 million will be released under the Integrated Livelihood Program and the Adjustment Measure Program, covering 501 informal sector workers. Additionally, around PHP306,000 will be distributed to 74 recipients of the Special Program for Employment of Students in Antique and Capiz.
Pre-anniversary job fairs are scheduled, including events in Roxas City on Dec. 4, in Antique on Dec. 5, and in Batad on Dec. 9. A job fair was also held in Oton, Iloilo, on Nov. 27.
Starting Nov. 28 and continuing until Dec. 8, DOLE will conduct payouts in various provinces for 22,730 workers under the cash emergency employment program, Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced (TUPAD) workers, totaling over PHP126.2 million. Additionally, DOLE has partnered with the Department of Agriculture for the Kadiwa ng Pangulo and Livelihood Fair at various venues in the region.
