Antique: Over 63,000 Antique±os have availed of the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) and Ayuda sa Kapos ang Kita Program (AKAP) this 2025, data from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) showed.
According to Philippines News Agency, Darlene Abagat, Antique Social Welfare and Development team leader, stated in an interview on Friday that approximately PHP462 million in AICS and AKAP was disbursed from January 1 to November 11. "There were outright cash assistance and guarantee letters that were given to the beneficiaries," she explained.
Aid under AICS is designated for cash relief, education, food, funeral, medical, and transportation needs. AKAP offers similar support but excludes transportation and education. "The educational assistance was released under AICS to students belonging to low-income families," Abagat noted.
The educational assistance aims to support in-school children at elementary, secondary, and college levels, particularly those not benefiting from scholarship programs.
