Over 70 Ilocos Norte Residents Secure Employment at Labor Day Fair

Ilocos Norte: Over 70 job seekers successfully found employment during the 123rd Labor Day celebration job fair held at Robinsons Place Ilocos. The event took place on Thursday and featured 43 local employers offering 1,719 job vacancies.

According to Philippines News Agency, Ailyn Joy Ambrocio, a 17-year-old beneficiary of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) from Barangay Paguludan-Salindeg, Currimao, was among the 73 individuals hired on the spot by 4 p.m. Ambrocio expressed her happiness in securing a food service crew position on her first attempt at job hunting.

In addition to the PHP5,000 assistance provided by the Department of Social Welfare and Development, those hired on the spot were offered free pre-employment laboratory services and a health certificate from the Department of Health.

Another successful applicant, Shanel Angela Tagatac, also a 4Ps member from Barangay Tapao-Tigue, Currimao, secured a position as a crew member at a fast-food chain in Batac. The 18-year-old senior high school graduate seeks to gain more skills and earn extra money to support her needs.

The Department of Labor and Employment reported that the majority of those hired on the spot secured roles as service crew members in food companies and sales personnel in department stores.
