Over PHP2 Million Worth of Shabu Seized in Bicol Buy-Bust Operations

Bicol: More than PHP2 million worth of illegal drugs were confiscated, three high-value drug suspects arrested, and illegal firearms seized in separate buy-bust operations in Bicol provinces, the Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5) said Wednesday. The operations, which took place on Tuesday and Wednesday, were conducted in Camarines Sur and Camarines Norte.

According to Philippines News Agency, Brig. Gen. Nestor Babagay Jr., director of PRO-5, reported that two individuals arrested on Wednesday in a buy-bust operation in Naga City, Camarines Sur, were high-value targets. They were caught with suspected shabu with an estimated value of PHP408,000. The suspects, identified as "Jan" and "Rob," are both residents of Camarines Sur. The operation was conducted by the joint forces of the City Intelligence Unit, City Police Drug Enforcement Unit, Police Station 2 of the Naga City Police Office, and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.

Authorities confiscated 15 heat-sealed sachets of suspected shabu weighing around 60 grams, as well as a caliber .38 revolver branded Smith and Wesson with five live rounds of ammunition, and a caliber 9mm pistol branded Black Widow with four bullets. The suspects will face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, in addition to potential charges for illegal possession of firearms.

In another operation in Daet, Camarines Norte, a 23-year-old individual known as "Anne" from Mercedes, Camarines Norte, was arrested on Tuesday evening. Police operatives confiscated 250 grams of suspected shabu with a street value of PHP1.7 million. "The arrest of a high-value target is a big step towards our goal of eradicating illegal drugs in the region. We will not stop until we get to the root of this problem," Babagay stated.
