CEBU CITY: Over PHP30 million worth of illegal drugs were seized in a series of intelligence-driven police operations, a police official said on Monday. Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin, director of the Police Regional Office-7, confirmed that the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU)-7 confiscated several kilos of suspected shabu from various drug personalities in the region. According to Philippines News Agency, the most recent operation occurred on Monday when Cebu City police seized PHP952,000 worth of shabu from a 35-year-old suspect during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Mambaling. Earlier, on November 8, authorities confiscated PHP6.9 million worth of shabu on Kaohsiung Street, Sitio San Isidro, Barangay Mabolo, in the city. In a separate operation conducted in Tubigon, Bohol province, on November 9, operatives from the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit and the Tubigon municipal police seized approximately two kilos of shabu valued at PHP13.6 million. Additionally, another operation in Bohol on Satu rday resulted in the apprehension of a 42-year-old high-profile drug suspect at Barangay Tabalong, Dauis town, where shabu worth PHP3.6 million was seized. Brig. Gen. Aberin emphasized that the momentum of PRO-7's mission to eradicate the illegal drug trade will increase in the coming months, aiming to ensure a peaceful, secure, and meaningful holiday season in Central Visayas.
