P1.5-M Shabu Seized in Caraga Weeklong Ops

Caraga: Police units across the Caraga Region confiscated PHP1.5 million worth of shabu, totaling 226.9 grams, in separate operations conducted last week, the Police Regional Office-Caraga (PRO-13) reported Monday.

According to Philippines News Agency, PRO-13 data indicates that 23 suspects were arrested during 17 raids. Three of those arrested were classified as high-value individuals, with the rest identified as street-level individuals. 'This is the result of the joint operations conducted by the different police units and other law enforcement agencies in the region,' said PRO-13 information chief Maj. Jennifer Omiter in the report.

One of the largest seizures last week occurred during the execution of a search warrant by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and Surigao del Sur Police in Barangay Poblacion, Barobo, Surigao del Sur. Approximately 180 grams of shabu worth PHP1.2 million were seized from four arrested suspects, one of whom was identified as a drug den operator.

All arrested suspects are currently in custody and face charges for violating Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
