In a separate development, Brig. Gen. Ericson Dilag, the newly appointed Police Regional Office-Cordillera Director, has committed to strengthening collaboration with various agencies to bolster public safety in the region. During his assumption of office ceremony at Camp Bado Dangwa in La Trinidad, Benguet, Dilag emphasized the shared responsibility of law enforcement, urging collective efforts to ensure security.
Dilag specifically addressed Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Cordillera Director Derrick Carreon, highlighting the need for joint efforts to eliminate illegal marijuana plantations in the remote areas of Kalinga. A native of Tabuk City, Kalinga, Dilag reinforced the importance of cross-sector collaboration, reiterating that public safety is a shared duty.
He also pledged support for the initiatives of PNP chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III, focusing on enhancing police response, welfare, technology, and maintaining internal discipline. Lt. Gen. Edgar Allan Okubo, PNP acting deputy chief for operations, who officiated the turnover from retiring regional director Brig. Gen. David Peredo, noted the significance of ensuring that the public not only is safe but also feels safe. Okubo praised Peredo for his leadership and effective management during his tenure, particularly through election-related challenges.
