P2.2-M Drugs Seized, 3 Arrested in Mabalacat Anti-Drug Op

Mabalacat city: A high-value individual and two other suspects were arrested in an anti-illegal drug operation in Mabalacat City on Wednesday, while a Korean national allegedly involved in the transaction managed to evade arrest. The operation was initially set to take place near Friendship Gate in Barangay Anunas, Angeles City, but the target reportedly changed the meeting place at the last minute to The Sharp Clarkhills along Macapagal Village in Mabalacat City.

According to Philippines News Agency, police operatives immediately adjusted their operational plan and proceeded to the new location, where the drug transaction was carried out at around 3:30 p.m. Authorities arrested three suspects, including the identified high-value individual, and seized suspected illegal drugs with an estimated total value of PHP2.29 million. Recovered during the operation were suspected ecstasy tablets, ketamine, marijuana vape cartridges, KPODS containing suspected liquid ketamine, and a bottle containing suspected "Happy Water."

A fourth suspect, identified as a Korean national, escaped during the operation. Follow-up operations are underway to locate and arrest the fugitive and identify other individuals who may be connected to the illegal drug activity. The operation was led by Police Station 4 of the Angeles City Police Office, with assistance from several units including the Criminal Investigation Unit of ACPO, City Drug Enforcement Unit-ACPO, and Regional Intelligence Division-Regional Special Operations Group, among others.

PRO-3 chief Brig. Gen. Jess B. Mendez stated the operation reflects the continuing efforts of the police to prevent illegal drugs from reaching communities. "Every illegal drug we prevent from reaching our streets means one less threat to our families and communities. We will continue to strengthen our intelligence work and coordination so that those who engage in the illegal drug trade will be held accountable," Mendez said.

The arrested suspects and the confiscated evidence were brought to PS4, ACPO for documentation and proper disposition. Authorities are preparing appropriate charges against the suspects for alleged violations of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Meanwhile, police said follow-up operations remain ongoing against the escaped suspect and other personalities who may be involved in the illegal drug trade.
