Quezon city: Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. has called on police units to sustain governance reforms after 12 PNP offices completed key stages of the Performance Governance System (PGS) Certification Pathway.
According to Philippines News Agency, the achievement reflects the organization's ongoing commitment to institutionalizing good governance and strengthening accountability in line with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., through the guidance of Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla. Nartatez commended the offices for their accomplishments and challenged them to continuously improve their performance and serve as models for other PNP units.
The PNP conferred the PGS status on the 12 offices during a ceremony at the PNP Multi-Purpose Center in Camp Crame in Quezon City on August 24. This recognition marked another step in the police organization's effort to institutionalize reforms under its PNP Focused Agenda and the PNP P.A.T.R.O.L. Plan 2030.
Three offices passed the Compliance Stage: the Peace Process and Development Center (PPDC), PNP Recruitment and Selection Service (PNP RSS), and Police Regional Office - Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR). The PPDC and PNP RSS received Silver Eagle Awards with ratings of 90.30 percent and 90.34 percent, respectively, while PRO-NIR earned a Gold Eagle Award with a 96.03 percent rating.
Meanwhile, nine other offices passed the Institutionalization Stage, reflecting a higher level in the PGS Certification Pathway. These include the Directorate for Intelligence (DI), Directorate for Operations (DO), Directorate for Personnel and Records Management (DPRM), Directorate for Education and Training (DET), Directorate for Police Community Relations (DPCR), Logistics Support Service (LSS), Directorate for Comptrollership (DC), Police Regional Office 7 (Central Visayas), and Maritime Group (MG). The DI and DO received Silver Eagle Awards with ratings of 94.61 percent and 95.54 percent, respectively, while the remaining offices earned Gold Eagle Awards with ratings ranging from 96 percent to 97.27 percent.
Nartatez emphasized that the PGS certification is not just about achieving high ratings but ensuring that the reforms are sustained and translated into a faster, more accountable, and more responsive police service for communities.
