P368M Road Project to Provide Market Access to 3,800 Ifugao Farmers

Lagawe: A PHP368 million road project, which includes the construction of a bridge in Ifugao, is set to enhance agricultural activities across eight farming communities, benefiting more than 3,800 farmers. Lawyer Jennilyn Dawayan, regional director of the Department of Agriculture (DA) in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), announced that the project's completion is anticipated to boost agricultural productivity and strengthen the operations of existing coffee enterprises.

According to Philippines News Agency, the development of the Caba-Luta-Ponghal-Buyabuyan farm-to-market road with a bridge in Lagawe, Ifugao, is part of the Department of Agriculture - Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP) Scale-Up sub-project. This initiative was proposed during the previous administration of the municipal government of Lagawe, with the groundbreaking ceremony taking place on Wednesday.

Dawayan emphasized the collaborative nature of the project, stating, "This is a shared responsibility. From start to finish, the community, officials, contractor, and the DA-PRDP will need to work hand in hand to monitor the project, ensure its quality, and see to it that it is completed according to standards and on schedule."

Vice Governor Martin Habawel Jr., who initially proposed the project to the DA-PRDP during his tenure as Lagawe's mayor, expressed his satisfaction, describing the project's realization as "a dream come true." Similarly, Mayor Leslie Roy Nayahangan highlighted the initiative's significance, noting that it represents a substantial benefit for Lagawe, with its full potential becoming apparent through effective execution and the development of complementary projects.
