P39-M Illegal Drugs Seized, 2 Arrested in Mindanao

Manila: on Sunday announced the arrest of two high-value individuals (HVIs) in Mindanao and the confiscation of some PHP39.4 million worth of illegal drugs during a one-day operation.

According to Philippines News Agency, the PNP said PHP35.8 million worth of illegal drugs were seized at the Pasay City mail hub on July 17 and 18. Authorities intercepted 20 inbound parcels containing approximately 4,298 grams of suspected shabu valued at PHP29.2 million; approximately 4,385 grams of suspected marijuana kush worth PHP6.5 million, and suspected cocaine.

The HVIs were apprehended in General Santos and Cagayan de Oro cities, leading to the confiscation of suspected shabu worth PHP1.5 million and PHP2.04 million, respectively. Meanwhile, in Madridejos, Cebu, one suspect was arrested due to the illegal processing of endangered giant clam meat. Confiscated items included PHP3.78 million worth of poached giant clam meat, dried seahorses, processing equipment, and other evidence.

A manhunt operation is currently targeting five other suspects. The PNP reiterated its commitment to enforcing the law, stating, "We will not relent in hunting down and arresting those who violate the law. We will continue to intensify our operations to ensure every community remains safe and peaceful."
