P40 Wage Hike to Take Effect in Caraga Next Year

Caraga: Two tranches of daily minimum wage increase of PHP20 each will take effect in the Caraga Region on two separate dates next year. In its notice on Friday, the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB-13) said the first increase will take effect on Jan. 3, 2026, raising the private sector's daily wage from PHP435 to PHP455. The second increase, amounting to PHP20, will take effect on May 1, 2026, raising the amount from PHP455 to PHP475.

According to Philippines News Agency, the RTWPB-13 also announced an increase in the monthly salary of domestic workers, or 'kasambahay' in the region. From PHP6,000 per month, the salaries of domestic workers in the region will increase to PHP6,500 per month starting January 3, 2026.

Jason, 29, who works at a computer and electronic gadget shop in one of the malls, welcomed the increase. "At least we have something to expect next year. We are also thankful to the government for this increase," Jason, who requested anonymity, said in the vernacular during an interview.

When reached for her comments, Marita, 34, a single mother of two, expressed gratitude to the government for the raise. "At least, this would help me meet the needs of my two children, one of whom is already in elementary school," she said.

The increases in the daily wage next year are indicated in Wage Order No. RXIII-20, while the raise in the salaries of domestic helpers is stipulated in Wage Order No. RXIII-DW-06.
