Calamba: The PHP50.7-billion expansion project of Samsung Electro-Mechanics Philippines Corporation (SEMPHIL) at the Calamba Premiere International Park in Barangay Batino is expected to create over 3,000 new jobs for skilled workers, engineers, and managers, with priority given to qualified city residents.

According to Philippines News Agency, Mayor Roseller Rizal announced the job creation plan during an interview on Friday at the Rizal Coliseum, where he attended the accreditation ceremony for various organizations and the signing of the city's 2026 budget. Rizal stated that he has held discussions with officials from SEMPHIL and the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) Calabarzon, led by lawyer Ross Vincent Sy, focusing on a memorandum of agreement regarding collaborative projects related to skills development, social initiatives, and environmental programs for the city.

The mayor expressed gratitude to the national government for supporting new investments enhancing Calamba's role as a key industrial hub. The city is currently home to 10 PEZA-managed industrial parks. Rizal emphasized the city's commitment to ensuring that business permits are issued promptly to facilitate these developments, highlighting the long-term benefits of such investments in providing employment opportunities for residents.

He also pointed out the increasing number of enrollees at the City College of Calamba (CCC), which continues to produce professional and technical graduates to meet the manpower demands of local industries.
