Natividad: The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) expects to finish the construction of two new school buildings in Natividad and Umingan, Pangasinan, with a total funding of PHP83.4 million, this year and in 2026.
According to Philippines News Agency, DPWH Ilocos Region information officer Esperanza Tinaza announced that the four-story building with eight classrooms at Natividad National High School is allocated a budget of PHP27.9 million and is anticipated to be completed within 245 calendar days. The structure measures 23 by 9.50 meters.
Tinaza further stated that Umingan National High School in Umingan town will receive a four-story building with 16 classrooms. This project has a budget allocation of PHP55.5 million and is expected to be finished within 502 calendar days.
The project scope includes demolishing an existing school building and constructing a modern facility. Tinaza emphasized that the construction of these school buildings will improve the learning environment, reduce overcrowding, and provide better facilities for students and teachers.
She also noted that the initiative will boost student enrollment, engage the community, stimulate the local economy, and ensure safety and accessibility. This effort aligns with the government's vision of providing sustainable and high-quality education for all.
