Pasay city: The Philippine Air Force (PAF) has shifted its mindset to territorial defense as it celebrates its 78th founding anniversary, its commander said on Tuesday. Lt. Gen. Arthur Cordura, in his speech at Villamor Air Base, highlighted the transformation initiated when President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. challenged the Air Force to focus on territorial defense.
According to Philippines News Agency, Cordura emphasized that the Air Force has responded to the call by focusing on defending the country's airspace and territorial integrity. The shift in mindset from internal security operations to territorial defense operations marks a significant change in the Air Force's strategic approach.
Cordura outlined the advancements PAF is making in areas such as surveillance, precision strike, advanced systems, and integrated air defense. He expressed commitment to adopting space capabilities and evolving PAF's doctrines, force structure, and strategic partnerships to stay relevant in both peace and crisis times.
He further stressed that beyond platforms and systems, the core values of integrity, service above self, teamwork, excellence, and professionalism are the true strengths of the PAF. Cordura reiterated the Air Force's commitment to good governance, a stronger safety culture, and an unwavering warrior ethos.
