A total 60,000 residences and 2,000 establishments in Pahang are expected to be involved in the Agricultural Census 2024 (BP 2024) which will be carried out from July next year.
Pahang Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) director Razaman Ridzuan said the last time the census was held was in 2005 and the department was updating the framework in preparation for the implementation of BP 2024 which will be conducted on households and establishments involved in agricultural activities.
“Through the census, we will get the latest data for example the new technology used by industry players and the data is needed by the country's agricultural agencies.
"Therefore, we hope for the cooperation of all parties involved," he told reporters after launching the Pahang-level FitDOSM programme at Taman Gelora here today.
Meanwhile, Razaman said the department is also conducting the 2023 Economic Census (BE 2023) for the reference year 2022 involving 52,272 business establishments and non-profit organisations throughout Pahang.
Razaman said the census which started in April and will end this month has managed to get more than 80 per cent responses from those involved.
Meanwhile, today's programme, themed ‘Statistics and Environmental Sustainability’ was in line with DOSM's role as the National Statistics Organisation that publishes statistics related to the environment, including the Green Indicator Statistics and Environmental Expenditure Statistics.
In addition, the programme is held in conjunction with the National Statistics Day (MyStats Day) which falls on Oct 20, among others, to increase understanding of the importance of statistics.
"We are going to the ground to meet as many people as possible so that they are more aware of the data as well as the role of DOSM," he said, adding that about 300 participants were involved in various activities in conjunction with the programme.
