PAL to Relaunch Manila-Sapporo Flights for Winter Season

Manila: Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) announced the relaunch of its nonstop services between Manila and Sapporo, Japan starting November 24. The thrice-weekly flights will be available until March 27, 2026, and thereafter every winter season from November to March.

According to Philippines News Agency, this route offers a convenient travel option for Filipino tourists and overseas workers, while also inviting Japanese travelers to experience the culture and hospitality of the Philippines. PAL President Richard Nuttall emphasized that the direct flights would aid in strengthening bilateral relations and cultural ties between the Philippines and Japan.

PAL plans to operate the Sapporo flights every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday using a 168-seater Airbus A321neo. The Tan-led airline previously offered direct flights to Sapporo from December 2018 to March 2020. Sapporo is well-known for its winter activities and the Sapporo Snow Festival, attracting tourists from around the world.

Earlier this year, in January, Cebu Pacific (CEB), an airline led by the Gokongwei group, also began thrice-weekly services between the Ninoy Aquino International Airport and the New Chitose International Airport. The maiden flight ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of Japan to the Philippines, Endo Kazuya, who encouraged Filipinos to consider Hokkaido as their next travel destination.
