Manila: The government would pursue a 'win-win' solution that protects both workers and employers, Malaca±ang said Friday, following the issuance of a temporary restraining order (TRO) against the PHP85 daily wage hike implementation in Metro Manila. Palace Press Officer Claire Castro stated that the government would comply with the TRO issued by Pasig Regional Trial Court Branch 152 Judge Marie Joyce Monongsong against the implementation of Wage Order No. 27 by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board-National Capital Region.
According to Philippines News Agency, Castro emphasized the administration's commitment to advancing the welfare of Filipino workers. Despite the TRO, she assured that the fight for appropriate measures benefiting workers continues. "Hindi pa po dito natatapos ang laban. Ilalaban po kung ano po ang nakikita ng pamahalaan na nararapat sa ating mga manggagawa," Castro said, affirming the government's dedication to its workers.
Castro also acknowledged the concerns of business owners regarding the impact of increased labor costs. She articulated the administration's intent to balance the interests of both workers and employers to avoid exacerbating economic challenges. "Pero pakikinggan din po ng pamahalaan kung ano po ang hinaing ng mga negosyante," Castro stated, emphasizing the importance of considering business owners' perspectives.
The government is focused on finding a balanced approach to prevent further economic issues. "Mas maganda po talaga na maging balanse ang pagtingin dito para hindi magkaroon ng mas malalim na problema o suliranin para both parties," Castro remarked. The administration remains dedicated to seeking a fair and sustainable resolution that benefits both sides. "Ang employees and employers ay magkaroon ng win-win solution sa isyu na ito," she concluded.
The Pasig court's TRO came just a week after the PHP85 daily wage increase took effect in Metro Manila, highlighting the ongoing complexities in balancing worker welfare and business sustainability.
