Palace: PrimeWater Vows to Fix Bulacan Water Woes Before Class Opening

Malaca±ang: Villar-owned PrimeWater Infrastructure Corp. has pledged to resolve the water supply problem in Bulacan province before the school opening, Malaca±ang said Wednesday. The commitment was made after President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. directed the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) to conduct an immediate investigation into the lack of stable water supply in public schools he inspected in Malolos and San Miguel towns in Bulacan.

According to Philippines News Agency, in a press briefing, Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro stated that PrimeWater and the City of Malolos Water District (CMWD) have convened a meeting to address the water service failure in the province. Castro noted that repair works will commence in two affected villages starting Friday, following the dialogue between PrimeWater and the CMWD.

PrimeWater has promised to repair the pump station by June 13, 2025, and will coordinate with the drainage contractor to fix the issues. Castro emphasized that the collaboration between CMWD and PrimeWater aims to restore the damaged mainline. She also mentioned that water levels are expected to return to normal upon the completion of these repairs before the school opening.

Castro urged the public to be patient and give PrimeWater a chance to address the issue. While acknowledging the complaints against PrimeWater, she reiterated their commitment to serving the people. Meanwhile, the LWUA, following the President's directive, has been tasked with submitting an initial report within 48 hours. The report should identify the cause of the supply failures, the officials responsible, and outline measures to restore services before classes begin next week.
