Pangasinan: The provincial government of Pangasinan has decided not to implement a four-day workweek schedule, citing the need for continued frontline services. Vice Gov. Mark Ronald Lambino explained that the feasibility of such a schedule was studied, but concerns were raised about its impact on service delivery. The province operates 14 hospitals and employs 7,000 people across frontline and back-office roles, making the change potentially disruptive.

According to Philippines News Agency, Vice Gov. Lambino acknowledged that while a four-day workweek could reduce expenses, it might compromise service quality. "So we opted that we shoulder or still carry the burden of higher cost of operations for as long as the delivery of proper services in the province is assured," he stated.

In contrast, most local government units in Pangasinan, including Malasiqui, have adopted the four-day workweek. Mayor Alfe Soriano noted that municipal offices operate from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday to Thursday, to comply with a directive from President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. This initiative comes in response to the Middle East conflict, which has led to increased petroleum prices.

Mayor Soriano emphasized efforts to cut electricity and fuel consumption by 10 to 20 percent and restricted non-essential travel and external activities. Meetings are encouraged to be conducted within office premises or virtually to further reduce costs and consumption.
