Pangasinan: The combined effects of Tropical Storm Maymay and the enhanced southwest monsoon have resulted in PHP105.7 million in damage to infrastructure and agriculture in Pangasinan as of Thursday morning.

According to Philippines News Agency, Ron Maegan Equila, team leader of the Pangasinan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) emergency operations center, reported that the infrastructure damage costs surpassed PHP105.5 million. This figure is based on the initial report from the Provincial Engineering Office, highlighting severe impacts on provincial roads and road dikes.

The damage to palay crops is estimated at PHP205,350 in Rosales, Pangasinan, as stated by Equila. Despite some evacuees returning home, 22 families remain in evacuation centers, with one family in Agno and 21 in Bani.

Flooding has receded in several areas, including Lingayen, where the number of flooded villages decreased from 16 to five. The adverse weather has affected a total of 6,516 families or 23,543 individuals across 40 barangays in five municipalities and one city within the province.

Equila also mentioned that a male cadaver was recovered from a river in Barangay Linmansangan, Alaminos City, on August 5. The Department of the Interior and Local Government is expected to confirm whether the incident was related to the typhoon.
