Calasiao: The Calasiao Dialysis Center here is set to serve patients in need of dialysis services by June this year. Mayor Patrick Caramat said the center has 12 machines to cater to dialysis patients in the town or even nearby towns and cities.
According to Philippines News Agency, Mayor Caramat highlighted that the facility is intended for maintenance dialysis rather than emergency cases. Patients will need clearance from their nephrologist or other clinics where they have already undergone dialysis to be accommodated at the center. This development is expected to save patients transportation fees and travel time as it is the first dialysis center to open in the area.
Although managed by a private company, residents can avail of free services under the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. benefit package. The firm rents the building facility from the municipal government at PHP180,000 a month, totaling over PHP2.1 million annually. Mayor Caramat stated that the rent from the Calasiao Dialysis Center Inc. will contribute to the local government's medical services program for residents.
He added that the healthcare workers at the center are undergoing training and are expected to be ready for the center's opening next month.
