Manila: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Thursday assured the public that the discomfort he experienced on Wednesday night is not life-threatening, calling the circulating rumors about his death 'highly exaggerated.' In a video message, Marcos said he is feeling much better.

According to Philippines News Agency, Marcos revealed that he was diagnosed with diverticulitis, a digestive condition that occurs when small pouches in the wall of the colon, called diverticula, become inflamed or infected. He explained that the condition can affect people who are stressed or advancing in age.

Marcos acknowledged that his doctor has advised him to slow down, but stressed that he must continue performing his duties. He mentioned the challenge of managing his workload, given the numerous responsibilities he faces.

Addressing concerns about his well-being, Marcos reassured the public that there is no cause for alarm, emphasizing that the condition is not life-threatening. He humorously remarked that the rumors of his death have been greatly exaggerated.

Marcos was rushed to St. Luke's Medical Center in Quezon City on Wednesday night after experiencing discomfort but has since been discharged. Palace Press Officer Claire Castro confirmed that Marcos' health condition remained stable and that he was scheduled to hold meetings at Malaca±an Palace in Manila later in the day.
