Manila: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Monday dismissed ongoing rumors regarding his health, showcasing his physical fitness before the media to counter what he termed as 'lies' circulating on social media. The President performed jumping jacks and undertook a brisk walk, transitioning into a jog, from the New Executive Building back to Malaca±ang Palace.
According to Philippines News Agency, Marcos addressed the media, condemning the rumors as baseless. 'Kalokohan na 'yan. tiniyak ko na makita ninyo na hindi totoo 'yung mga sinasabi nila, na kasinungalingan 'yan (That's nonsense. I wanted you to see that what they are saying is not true, those are lies),' he stated. He further issued a challenge to those spreading claims about his health, inviting them to exercise with him to determine who is stronger.
The President reassured the public of his health status, referencing recent medical checkups. He stated, 'I just had my regular blood test. and I'm fine. I'm really quite fine.' He mentioned that his last hospital visit was three months ago for a follow-up CT scan related to a previous diverticulitis condition, which he confirmed has been resolved.
President Marcos also disclosed his current health regimen, which includes maintenance medication for gout and hypertension. He emphasized his commitment to regular exercise, stating, 'My exercise is back to normal. I still exercise three to four times a week.'
Malaca±ang has consistently denied the claims of the President's alleged illness, which have been circulating online. The Presidential Communications Office has previously identified these rumors as part of a coordinated disinformation campaign. The Palace is in the process of gathering evidence to take legal action against those responsible for spreading false information.
Despite the circulating rumors, Marcos remains focused on governance, particularly on addressing the ongoing energy crisis and its effects on Filipino households.
