Talisay city: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Friday inspected the Mananga Bridge in Talisay City, Cebu, after it was heavily damaged during the onslaught of Typhoon Tino (international name Kalmaegi).

According to Philippines News Agency, during his visit to Talisay City, Marcos assessed the extent of the typhoon's damage to Mananga Bridge, the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) said in a news release. The PCO stated that one lane of the Mananga Bridge remains impassable due to cracks and other structural damage caused by widespread flooding in the province.

Typhoon Tino battered parts of the Visayas earlier this week, bringing heavy rains and strong winds that triggered flooding and landslides in several towns in Cebu. The Mananga River overflowed, inundating nearby communities and causing extensive damage to homes and infrastructure.

Constructed in 1983, the bridge serves as a vital link along the Cebu South Coastal Road, facilitating traffic between southern Cebu and the surrounding areas. Marcos also presided over a situation briefing on the effects of Tino in Cebu province with local officials and concerned government agencies at the Provincial Capitol in Cebu City.
