PBBM Unveils PAL’s Longest Aircraft, Promises Aviation Sector Upgrades

Pasay city: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. pledged to modernize the aviation sector as he led the unveiling of the largest and most advanced aircraft of flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) at Villamor Air Base.

According to Philippines News Agency, Marcos emphasized the importance of the launch of PAL's first Airbus A350-1000 in strengthening the aviation industry, expanding connectivity, and enhancing trade, tourism, and investment opportunities. He highlighted the need for the country to adapt to the rapidly evolving aviation industry, recognizing its crucial role in economic growth and national development.

Since its establishment in 1941, PAL has played a vital role in connecting the Philippines to the world. As the country's only full-service four-star airline, it has consistently delivered reliable service for both Filipino and international travelers. The introduction of PAL's first A350-1000 is set to unlock new possibilities for long-distance travel, including routes to North America, aligning with efforts to modernize the aviation sector and adopt more sustainable practices.

Marcos reiterated his administration's dedication to improving infrastructure, modernizing airports, and boosting connectivity to drive economic growth. He mentioned ongoing construction projects, including a Modular Passenger Terminal Building at Siargao Airport, a new International PTB in Davao, and upgrades at Laguindingan, Bohol-Panglao, and Caticlan Airports.

He also highlighted the collaboration with the private sector to modernize and maintain the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, emphasizing the recent launch of immigration eGates to enhance travel efficiency and safety.

Marcos called for increased cooperation with private partners on aviation-focused initiatives to improve the Philippines' competitiveness and expand opportunities for Filipinos, envisioning a future where regions are better connected and opportunities are accessible.

The event also marked PAL's 85th founding anniversary. The introduction of the highly anticipated A350-1000, Southeast Asia's first, signals a significant milestone for PAL, enhancing its network and overall flying experience. PAL plans to deploy this next-generation widebody aircraft on transpacific routes with a three-class cabin accommodating 382 passengers. The acquisition brings PAL's total fleet to 82 aircraft, powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engines offering enhanced efficiency and reliability.
