Las pi±as city: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Tuesday assessed the situation of residents at an evacuation center in Las Pi±as City, following the flooding caused by the enhanced southwest monsoon.

According to Philippines News Agency, President Marcos visited the Verdant Covered Court in Barangay Pamplona Tres, where displaced residents have been temporarily accommodated. During his visit, he also engaged with the children present at the evacuation center. This outreach was part of a broader inspection, which included a review of a high-vacuum, self-priming drainage trailer pump at Alido Bridge in Barangay Zapote. This equipment is being utilized to mitigate flooding in the area.

The flooding, exacerbated by tropical cyclones Luis and Maymay, affected multiple areas in Metro Manila, including Las Pi±as City, compelling residents to seek refuge. The city government reported that approximately 736 families from several barangays, including Zapote, Pamplona Tres, and Talon Dos, were evacuated.

In response to the crisis, the Las Pi±as City government has been providing immediate assistance and support to evacuees at various centers throughout the city. The city's Health Emergency Management Staff has distributed doxycycline to residents who have come into contact with floodwaters. Special attention is being given to vulnerable groups, ensuring they receive the necessary protection and nutrition.

President Marcos has instructed government agencies to stay vigilant as the southwest monsoon continues to impact the region. He emphasized the importance of delivering prompt assistance to all affected individuals.
