Davao city: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. reaffirmed his commitment to bolstering support for government troops and strengthening security operations in Mindanao. Marcos made the commitment during his visit to the Eastern Mindanao Command (Eastmincom) at Camp Panacan in Davao City, the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) said in a Facebook post.

According to Philippines News Agency, in a security briefing, Marcos was updated on Eastmincom's anti-insurgency operations, maritime patrols, and disaster response efforts, underscoring its crucial role as a steadfast pillar of national security. Officials briefed him on the peace and order situation, including updates on internal and external security and the progress of operations against remaining threats in the region.

After the security briefing, Marcos also met with the troops, promising continued support for all military and uniformed personnel (MUP). The PCO said Marcos vowed to provide the necessary equipment and training to enhance the troops' operational capabilities. The President also commended the soldiers for maintaining peace and security across the region, especially in areas that continue to face residual threats.

On Wednesday, Marcos issued Executive Order 107, increasing the MUP's base pay and daily subsistence allowance to PHP350. The pay increase is scheduled to take effect on Jan. 1, 2026, and will be implemented in three tranches.
