Bicol: The Philippine Coast Guard in Bicol (PCG-5) recorded more than 4,600 port passengers from midnight to 6 a.m. Monday as part of the 'Biyaheng Ayos: Balik Eskwela' program. PCG-5 commander Commodore Ivan Roldan stated that monitoring and inspections in various ports will continue until June 11.

According to Philippines News Agency, with the opening of School Year 2026-2027, the Coast Guard District Bicol has intensified its operations to ensure the safe and smooth travel of students, teachers, parents, and other passengers throughout the region. The PCG monitored 2,049 outbound passengers and 2,604 inbound passengers across all ports in Bicol.

The operations included the inspection of 40 vessels and the monitoring of 532 rolling cargoes to ensure compliance with the required certificates under maritime law. PCG-5 staff and equipment remain on standby at ports and other transport hubs to provide security, conduct safety inspections, and respond to any emergencies.

Help desks have also been set up at major ports in the region to promptly address travelers' questions, complaints, and other concerns, added Roldan.
