Pasay city: The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) is currently investigating one of its personnel following allegations of sexual harassment that reportedly occurred while the individual was off-duty at a restaurant bar in Pasay City on Monday.

According to Philippines News Agency, PCG spokesperson Capt. Noemie Cayabyab stated in a radio interview on Tuesday that the leadership of the PCG fully supports the ongoing investigation and has initiated a separate internal inquiry into the incident. Cayabyab emphasized that if the allegations are proven, the suspect could face dismissal or a dishonorable discharge, underscoring that the PCG does not tolerate such actions.

Initial findings indicate that the incident occurred around 1 a.m. when the suspect allegedly inappropriately touched a waitress who was performing her duties at the time. The suspect is accused of violating Republic Act 11313, also known as the Safe Spaces Act, and is currently in police custody facing civilian legal proceedings.

Cayabyab reiterated the PCG's commitment to maintaining discipline and respect among its personnel and assured the public that the organization would fully cooperate to ensure justice is served.
