San Pedro City: The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has deployed oil spill booms at the San Isidro River in San Pedro City, Laguna, after 1,000 liters of weathered oil was found to have leaked.
According to Philippines News Agency, the PCG reported that the oil spill covers approximately 100 square meters of the San Isidro River. The PCG, in collaboration with the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO) San Pedro, conducted a joint recovery operation and laid 50 meters of oil spill booms to prevent the oil from spreading further.
The oil leak was traced to the Kengian Complex Warehouse Building 20 Phase 1 in the city. The incident was first reported at 8 a.m. on Sunday, prompting an immediate response from PCG personnel. As of now, the PCG has not yet determined the cause or source of the oil spill.
