Manila: The Department of Justice will be evaluating three Facebook accounts endorsed by the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) for prosecution after spreading fabricated health claims against President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. Justice Secretary Frederick Vida confirmed the PCO endorsement, saying his office will rule on the cases within 10 days.

According to Philippines News Agency, the PCO, through its Anti-Fake News Desk (AFND), endorsed the accounts for appropriate action. These accounts, namely "Iloy Bugris: The Queen of Revelations," "Rigondola Ping," and "Crage Anderpal," have been identified as spreading false information about the President's health. "Iloy Bugris" was noted for soliciting financial contributions while displaying a purported medical document that was fabricated. "Rigondola Ping" was accused of manipulating images to show the President in distress, while "Crage Anderpal" allegedly fabricated a news graphic that falsely claimed an official confirmation of a serious health condition.

Justice Secretary Vida emphasized the need for swift evaluation, stating, "Nasa proseso po ng evaluation. We have 10 days to do that (evaluation). It will not take more than that." He highlighted the impact of negative news, noting that some posts were aimed at confusing the public and exploiting a tendency to focus on negative news.

The PCO's statement stressed that the deliberate fabrication and dissemination of false information, especially during a declared state of national energy emergency under Executive Order No. 110, constitutes a crime under Article 154 of the Revised Penal Code. The penalties are more severe when such acts are committed online under the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.

In a move to counter rumors about his health, President Marcos was seen jogging and performing jumping jacks in Malaca±ang, demonstrating his good health and dismissing the false claims circulating on social media.
