Manila: The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) has introduced 'Sa Totoo Lang: A Digital Storytelling Challenge,' a nationwide short-form video competition designed to engage students in combating disinformation and emphasizing the positive outcomes of government initiatives.
According to Philippines News Agency, the competition invites Grades 10 to 12 students from both public and private schools to create 90-second videos that present 'good news' and highlight the initiatives of the Marcos administration from the preceding month. The submission window for these videos will be open from the 1st to the 15th of each month, beginning October 1.
The competition will recognize winners in several categories, including Pinakapinag-usapan (Most Viewed), Pinaka-makahulugan (Most Meaningful), and Tagasuri ng Katotohanan (Fake News Buster). Successful participants will receive a tablet and a Certificate of Recognition from the PCO. The judging panel, consisting of representatives from the PCO, the Department of Education, and civil society organizations, will assess the entries on creativity, clarity, engagement, accuracy, and relevance.
PCO has advised participants to use only original or properly licensed materials, with a warning that submissions containing offensive content or manipulated engagement metrics will face disqualification. Additionally, students under the age of 18 are required to submit parental consent forms. Participants seeking further information are encouraged to contact the organizers.
