Oriental mindoro: In a move to underscore the government's commitment to bringing high-quality public healthcare to the countryside, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) has donated PHP18.2 million worth of medical equipment and financial support to the provincial government of Oriental Mindoro. The recent turnover, which aligns with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s directive to decentralize and strengthen public health access, is being hailed as a significant change for the Oriental Mindoro Provincial Hospital (OMPH).
According to Philippines News Agency, leading the turnover ceremony were PCSO General Manager Melquiades 'Mel' Robles and Oriental Mindoro Governor Humerlito 'Bonz' Dolor. The donation includes one digital X-ray machine, five ventilators, and eight electrocardiogram (ECG) units, essential tools in critical care settings. Alongside the medical equipment, PCSO also released the province's Lotto LGU share amounting to PHP247,486, providing additional funding support for local programs and services.
PCSO's donation and financial assistance form part of its broader mandate to channel lottery revenues into health services, medical assistance, and community welfare initiatives nationwide. Recent PCSO turnover activities across the country highlight the agency's sustained efforts to equip hospitals and local governments with essential resources, particularly in underserved areas.
In his remarks, Robles underscored the importance of ensuring that healthcare facilities, especially in the provinces, are adequately supported with modern equipment. 'Sa dami ng nangangailangan sa ating bayan, naniniwala kami na bawat maliit na tulong na naibibigay ay may kakayahang magdulot ng malaking pagbabago sa buhay ng iba (With so many people in need in our country, we believe that every little bit of help given has the potential to make a big difference in the lives of others),' Robles said. 'At we promise to give more, at we soar to give more."
Dolor, for his part, welcomed the assistance, adding that the additional equipment and funding would directly benefit patients and help strengthen their province's healthcare system. With the continued rollout of medical support and financial assistance, PCSO reaffirmed its role as a key partner in advancing accessible, responsive healthcare services for Filipinos nationwide.
This latest rollout in Mindoro is part of the PCSO's ongoing nationwide campaign to equip and support underserved provincial hospitals. By transforming lottery revenues into life-saving machines, the agency continues to prove itself as an indispensable backbone of the Philippine public health system. With the digital X-ray and ventilators now in place, the people of Oriental Mindoro can look forward to a healthcare system that no longer just survives but thrives.
