Zamboanga City: The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Region 9 has successfully destroyed illegal drugs valued at PHP331 million using the thermal destruction method. This operation took place in the Zamboanga Peninsula on Wednesday and was conducted in compliance with court orders from the Regional Trial Courts of Pagadian City, Molave, Aurora, and Zamboanga City.

According to Philippines News Agency, PDEA reported that 37 out of 48.7 kilograms of shabu incinerated were seized during two separate anti-drug operations in Zamboanga City last year. The destruction was carried out in coordination with key government agencies and stakeholders.

PDEA Zamboanga Peninsula Regional Director Maharani Gadaoni-Tosoc highlighted the agency's ongoing efforts to combat illegal drugs. She stated, "This is a testament to our unwavering commitment to eliminating illegal drugs and ensuring these confiscated substances will never reach the streets again." Gadaoni-Tosoc expressed gratitude to local officials and stakeholders for their support and emphasized their collective resolve toward establishing a drug-free community.

In a separate incident, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) operatives conducted a successful buy-bust operation in Caloocan City, seizing PHP5 million worth of shabu from a high-value individual and her cohort. The suspects, a 31-year-old female and a 21-year-old male, were found in possession of 750 grams of shabu worth PHP5.1 million, PHP1 million cash, and buy-bust money.

NCRPO chief Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin confirmed that the confiscated drugs would be handed over to the Northern Police District Forensic Unit for laboratory examination. He commended the operatives for their efforts in combating the illegal drug trade in Metro Manila, emphasizing the agency's dedication to bringing criminals to justice.
