Iligan city: Authorities seized suspected shabu valued at PHP10.2 million and arrested a female suspect during an anti-drug operation in Iligan City on Tuesday afternoon. In a report on Wednesday, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 9 (Zamboanga Peninsula) identified the arrested suspect as alias Richie, 34, a resident of Barangay Tubod, Iligan City, Lanao del Norte.
According to Philippines News Agency, a cohort, alias Mark, evaded arrest and is the subject of a follow-up operation. The PDEA-9 said Richie was arrested in a 1 p.m. buy-bust operation in Barangay Saray, Iligan City. Seized from her were about 1.5 kg. of suspected shabu packed in vacuum-sealed transparent plastic packs, the buy-bust money, a mobile phone, and other illegal drug paraphernalia.
The arrested suspect will face charges for violating Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Meanwhile, the PDEA-9 encouraged Iligan residents to remain vigilant and continue supporting the government's anti-illegal drug campaign by reporting suspicious drug-related activities to the proper authorities.
The PDEA-9 launched the anti-drug operation in coordination with the Iligan City Police Station 5.
