Manila: Authorities have reported the seizure of PHP368.84 million worth of illegal drugs and the arrest of 111 suspects during a series of nationwide anti-drug operations carried out from June 11 to 18, according to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
According to Philippines News Agency, PDEA Director General Isagani Nerez stated that the agency conducted 84 operations over the course of the week, with 68 of them being buy-bust operations. Nerez highlighted the collaborative efforts of various enforcement units, including regional special enforcement teams, provincial and city drug enforcement units, intelligence units, PDEA K9 units, airport and seaport interdiction units, and interagency task forces. These units were instrumental in the arrest of drug personalities and the interception of illegal drugs at ports of entry.
The operations led to the confiscation of significant quantities of illegal substances, including 15,283.03 grams of shabu, 14,170 uprooted marijuana plants, 5,484 grams of marijuana kush, 8,125 grams of marijuana stalks, 289.16 grams and 100,000 milliliters of marijuana oil, 308 ecstasy tablets, and 7,653 grams of opium poppy.
Among the 111 individuals apprehended, 74 were identified as drug pushers, while 12 were drug den visitors or clients, nine were drug den maintainers or owners, six were drug possessors, five were drug den employees, four were drug users, and one was a drug importer. All suspects are set to face charges under Republic Act No. 9165, known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
PDEA has confirmed that the confiscated items are now under government custody for forensic examination and will be used as evidence in upcoming court proceedings.
