PDLs Light Candles, Offer Prayers for Loved Ones During Undas

Roxas: Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP)-Roxas District Jail observed Undas (All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day) on Thursday night by lighting candles and offering prayers for their departed loved ones.

According to Philippines News Agency, BJMP Mimaropa spokesperson JO3 Joefrie Anglo stated that the activity provides inmates a chance to reflect, remember, and honor their loved ones, despite being confined within the facility. Anglo emphasized that even behind the walls of the jail, the warmth of love and the ache of longing are carried through the prayers of the inmates, ensuring that no soul is forgotten.

The observance was marked by the careful arrangement of candles and quiet prayers, creating a solemn atmosphere of remembrance within the jail compound. Anglo further noted that such activities are part of the bureau's initiatives to provide spiritual support and foster personal reflection among PDLs, promoting their well-being and humanity even while in detention.

The Undas observance highlighted the inmates' enduring faith and love, demonstrating that remembrance and familial bonds persist despite the constraints of confinement.
