Antique: The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) is advocating for the procurement of two water tankers to distribute water in barangays facing shortages.
According to Philippines News Agency, Antique PDRRM Officer Broderick Train highlighted that some barangays, especially those in upland areas, are already experiencing water shortages due to the ongoing drought. He emphasized that the worst effects of the El Ni±o phenomenon are anticipated between June and July, persisting until the first quarter of 2027. However, certain areas, like the upper portion of Hamtic, are already confronting water scarcity.
Train mentioned that PHP10 million in savings from programmed projects since 2020 could be utilized for acquiring the water tankers. He also noted that the PDRRM Council is set to convene once Governor Paolo Everardo Javier signs an executive order next week to establish Task Force El Ni±o. A key agenda for this meeting will be the discussion on procuring the water tankers.
"I am hoping that the council will prioritize and approve this proposal for the procurement of the water tankers," Train expressed.
