Makati city: The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) has reclassified its tourism economic zone in Pampanga as a mixed-use special economic zone. This change aims to accommodate additional sectors, including agro-industrial and information technology enterprises.
According to Philippines News Agency, PEZA Director General Teresa Panga and Hann Philippines Inc. (HPI) Corporate Secretary Mitchell Estacio signed a supplemental agreement on August 19 at the PEZA office in Makati City for the registration of the Hann Reserve. The agency emphasized that this move demonstrates PEZA's commitment to attracting transformative investments and developing future-ready economic zones across the country.
The reclassified special economic zone will integrate tourism, manufacturing, agro-industrial, and information technology sectors within a sustainable development framework. Director General Panga highlighted that the reclassification of Hann Reserve marks a new phase in ecozone development, combining industry, innovation, agriculture, and tourism into a cohesive growth engine.
PEZA noted that this reclassification will enable the South Korean-led investment firm, Hann Reserve, to become a master-planned destination where industries, agriculture, technology, and tourism converge. The project is expected to generate new investments, create quality jobs, and unlock opportunities for local communities, positioning Pampanga as a key growth hub in Luzon.
The initiative aims to enhance the country's global investment competitiveness and aligns with PEZA's mission to promote ecozoning in the Philippines for inclusive, balanced, and sustainable growth, prioritizing progress in the countryside.
Hann Philippines Inc. stated that the reclassification will allow them to attract a broader range of investors to their 455.60-hectare leased property. Currently, HPI operates integrated lifestyle resorts in the Clark Freeport Zone in Pampanga.
