PH, Cambodia Strengthen Educational Partnership to Enhance HEIs Support

Phnom penh: The Philippines has reinforced its collaborative efforts with Cambodia to advance support for higher education institutions (HEIs) and regional cooperation, as announced by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) on Tuesday. In a recent press release, CHED revealed that representatives from the Commission and Cambodia's Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sport formalized their commitment by signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on Monday. This agreement focuses on providing educational opportunities and ensuring sustainable development between the two nations.

According to Philippines News Agency, the MOU signing took place in Phnom Penh and was witnessed by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Prime Minister Hun Manet during the President's official state visit. CHED Chairperson Shirley Agrupis emphasized that this agreement highlights the dedication of both countries to broaden educational opportunities, promote academic excellence, and enhance people-to-people connections. This partnership aims to cement the Philippines and Cambodia's position as allies in fostering inclusive growth, innovation, and sustainable development within the region.

The agreement outlines a 'comprehensive framework' aimed at academic and research partnerships among HEIs in the Philippines and Cambodia. It opens doors for students and faculty members to engage in exchanges, joint research efforts, information sharing, credit transfer arrangements, and collaboration in conferences, workshops, and training sessions.

The collaborative efforts will span various fields, including aviation, health sciences, allied medical services, science, technology, and innovation. Shirley Agrupis noted, "This partnership is a powerful reminder that education is not only an investment in people but also in the shared future of our nations."
